  1. What is the ASL 5000 and why is it significant?
    The ASL 5000 is an active servo lung that uses a pressure-feedback control loop to simulate virtually any respiratory scenario — including spontaneous breathing, patient-ventilator dyssynchrony, and conditions that change over time. It is the most widely used high-fidelity breathing simulator in respiratory simulation programs worldwide.
  2. What ventilators can be used with this system?
    Like a real patient, the RespiSim Essential works with any ventilator and most modes of ventilation — including pressure and volume control, SIMV, Pressure Support, ASV, PAV, CPAP, BiPAP, BVM, and HFOV — connected via ET tube, LMA, or mask.
  3. Is the RespiPro Manikin included?
    No. The Essential package includes the ASL 5000 and software components only. The RespiPro Manikin is available separately and can be integrated to add airway management, CPR, chest tube insertion, and auscultation training to the system.
  4. Can it simulate neonatal and paediatric patients?
    Yes. The ASL 5000 simulates the full range from neonatal to adult. Without the RespiPro Manikin, neonatal and paediatric patients are simulated by connecting the ventilator directly to the front of the ASL 5000.
  5. Can the Essential package be upgraded later?
    Yes. The RespiSim system is fully modular — the Essential package can be upgraded with the RespiPro Manikin, RespiScope auscultation option, additional scenarios, or a 2-year service plan at any time to suit growing program needs and budgets.
